We all know the feeling of looking after our family, we’d go to the end of the earth to help our own.
The statement is also true for elephants, who are remarkable in looking after their own kind too. They exhibit a family type connection with each other, and herd members would look after each other very closely.
A baby elephant was drinking out of a pond when it slid in, and found himself unable to get back out, even with mom’s help.
It was a bad place and bad time, as there were a pack of lions nearby who spotted the opportunity to get closer.
Mom began panicking and didn’t know what to do, she couldn’t face all the lions off by herself. Luckily though, in the nick of time, another herd of elephants saw what was happening, and rushed over to defend the baby and mom.
They managed to chase away the lions, and even began their own effort to get the stuck infant out of the pond and back on his feet.
It didn’t take too long with all of their combined efforts to get him out, and they were escorted away from the area with the herd.
